The Overlanding community in Germany keeps growing and growing. But what exactly does Overlanding entail? Simply put, Overlanding means travelling independently across rugged tracks to get to your destinations. Along the journey, it is common among Overlanding enthusiasts to go camping. Luckily, Germany’s landscape offers lots and lots of wild camping spots which means you are not restricted to official camping places.
That in turn makes you ever so flexible regarding where to go and where to stay. It has to be noted however, that wild camping is usually not legal within Germany. Nevertheless, anywhere between the Baltic Sea and the Black Forest you will find unspoilt nature.
For those of you who are not sold just yet on the Overlanding lifestyle in Germany, you will be happy to hear that you can also easily and quickly venture into one of the multiple countries that Germany neighbours and into countries even beyond that. Such countries include the Northern countries like Denmark, Sweden or Finland as well as Eastern countries such a Poland, the Czech Republic or Hungary and of course the Southern countries like Switzerland, France, Italy or even Spain. The number of destinations for Overlanders based in Germany is endless!

2) Stevenaufreisen
Steven Kasa behind Stevenaufreisen is an Overlanding lover who plans to see all parts of the whole world in his lifetime. Traveling is without doubt his passion and he shows us the many countries and cultures he has visited on his Overlanding YouTube Channel. What makes his travel videos so interesting, is that Steven goes beyond the typical holiday destinations and explores countries rarely explored by tourists. He moves around in his 2017 Ford Ranger which he bought back in 2019.
To finance his travels and his Overlanding lifestyle he, among other, sells his instructions for vehicle conversions.
Whether it’s paragliding, hiking or diving, Steven is a huge outdoor enthusiast and tries all different activities during his journeys. He is constantly on the search of new adventures.

3) THE SUNNYSIDE
Meet Karo and Phil! Together, they have fulfilled their dream and are travelling the world in a Defender Camper which they named Willi. To suit their personal needs during their travels around the globe, they self converted their defender.
If you want to find out about everything they’ve learnt during their DIY vehicle conversion, head to their Overlanding YouTube Channel where they share valuable knowledge and experience (for instance to questions such as how to install hot water access). Together with their dog, Maya, Phil and Karo have spent the last 3 years exploring the Amerikas.
Their Overlanding journey commenced all the way back in 2015, when they converted their first vehicle (a Mitsubishi Pajero) to take them once around Australia. In the course of their Australia adventure, they set up their YouTube channel. Initially, they intended to post videos to keep their family and friends up to date. Very quickly however, their YouTube channel gained popularity and more and more viewers started following Phil and Karo’s journey.
After returning from their last big trip around Uruguay, Bolivia, Chile, Argentinia and Columbia in 2020, they have been based in Germany and are working on setting up their very own garage where they will work on various conversion projects.

Could you imagine travelling with your sibling for over a year in just a 4×4 – come day or night? Well, Dominik and Pascal are doing it and they are loving their adventurous travels together! The two brothers have fulfilled their common dream of exploring the world independently and without any time limitations.
After buying a Land Rover Defender 110, they started converting it into a camper which would have everything to take them on an unforgettable journey throughout Europe.

The Overlanding YouTube Channel 4×4 Passion is all about off-roading in 4×4 vehicles and outdoor activities. The team behind the channel frequently uploads videos of them touring different off-roading vehicles.
We love getting an insight into the huge range of vehicles out there and what their owners most appreciate or dislike about them.
Besides their YouTube channel, 4×4 Passion recently published a book on their latest adventure where they travelled the Pamir Highway. The Pamir Highway is quite a track as it takes you through Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan on the Pamir Mountains.

Whether it’s crossing mountains, driving through forests or crossing rivers – they do it all!
